distributing, filling, and submitting electronic forms containing structured data.<\/p><p>Microsoft InfoPath was used in the following on-premises products:<\/p><ul><li>SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (SPS 2003)<\/li><li>Microsoft Office Server 2007 (MOSS 2007)<\/li><li>SharePoint Server 2010<\/li><li>SharePoint Server 2013<\/li><li>Up to and including SharePoint Server 2016<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d3ff42c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d3ff42c\" released <strong>InfoPath 2013<\/strong> (15.0.4733.1000) as a standalone download available from the Microsoft Download Center.<\/p><p>This version of InfoPath 2013 is an optional component for Office users who need it. <br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/introduction-to-microsoft-forms-bb1dd261-260f-49aa-9af0-d3dddcea6d69\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft Forms<\/a>, which is free for anyone with a <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/account-billing\/what-is-a-microsoft-account-4a7c48e9-ff5a-e9c6-5a5c-1a57d66c3bfa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft Account<\/a>, is its indirect successor. These controls were displayed separately in a hierarchical tree view of folders and data fields.<\/li><li>A key architectural decision was to adhere to the <strong>XML paradigm<\/strong>, separating the data in a document from its formatting.<\/li><li>All of the data stored in InfoPath forms was saved in\u00a0<strong>XML format,<\/strong> referred to as the \u201cdata source\u201d.<\/li><li>InfoPath templates were saved as archive files with an .xsn file extension.<ul><li><strong>Deployment:<\/strong> Organizations could deploy InfoPath forms on SharePoint sites, enabling end users to fill out forms directly in a web browser.<\/li><li><strong>Scenarios:<\/strong> InfoPath was used for various purposes, including gathering information, connecting data from diverse sources, and automating workflows alongside other solutions such as SharePoint Designer or SharePoint Workflow.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2109156 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"2109156\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d304dc8 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"d304dc8\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-17592bc elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"17592bc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Why is InfoPath being discontinued?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-976958a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"976958a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>On January 31, 2014, Microsoft announced the end of InfoPath. Their decision was based on feedback from customers and partners who wanted a smart, connected forms experience that works across devices. So,\u00a0 Microsoft began developing a new tool \u2013 <strong>Microsoft Forms<\/strong> \u2013 that makes it easy for people to create, share, and use smart, integrated forms in Office clients, servers, and services that work on their PCs, tablets, or phones.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b6cfb5d elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"b6cfb5d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div elementor-size-default\">End of support:  InfoPath forms services in SharePoint Online will be retired in 2026<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7158704 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7158704\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>On January 31, 2014, Microsoft initially announced the support lifecycle as follows:<\/p><ul><li>InfoPath 2013 is the last release of the desktop client, and InfoPath Forms Services in SharePoint Server 2013 is the last release of InfoPath Forms Services.<\/li><li>The InfoPath Forms Services technology within Office 365 will be maintained and it will funciton until further notice.<\/li><li>InfoPath Forms Services for SharePoint Server 2013 will continue to be supported through April 2023 as part of Microsoft\u2019s<a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/lifecycle\/?p1=16653\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0lifecycle support policy.<\/a>\u201c<\/li><\/ul><p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcommunity.microsoft.com\/t5\/microsoft-sharepoint-blog\/support-update-for-infopath-forms-services-in-microsoft-365\/ba-p\/3858190\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Later, on June 30, 2023<\/a>, Microsoft updated the support statement with an extension up to\u00a0 2026 but\u00a0<em><strong>with no option to extend<\/strong><\/em> InfoPath Forms Services in SharePoint Online <em><strong>beyond July 14, 2026!<\/strong><\/em><\/p><ul><li>For Microsoft 365 SharePoint, InfoPath Forms Services will be removed after July 14, 2026.<\/li><li>For SharePoint Server 2016, SharePoint Server 2019 and SharePoint Server Subscription Edition, the extended support date for InfoPath Forms Services will end after July 14, 2026.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7cd2c87 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"7cd2c87\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ccab4bb
